Michael Cohen is a more enviable enemy to trump than say Paul Manafort nor Rick Gates
It’s difficult to imagine a worse day in the presidency of Donald Trump than Tuesday, when two gripping legal dramas, one involving his former campaign chairman, Paul Manafort, and the other embroiling his longtime lawyer, Michael Cohen, collided in a surreal split screen crescendo.
bY CRIMSON TAZVINZWA//An attorney for President Donald Trump’s former personal lawyer and “fixer” says his client has knowledge on certain subjects that “should be of interest” to special counsel Robert Mueller (MUHL’-ur), who’s investigating possible Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Davis told MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow Tuesday night that Michael Cohen is “more than happy to tell the special counsel all that he knows.
‘Michael feels liberated; and evolving; he has been desperately and frantically looking for this day, this opportunity to speak truth to power and to the country and is aware his family has gone through a lot over the course of Trump – Russia collusion investigation,” he said
Davis’ comments came after Cohen pleaded guilty earlier Tuesday to campaign-finance violations and other charges, saying Trump directed him to arrange the payment of hush money to porn star Stormy Daniels and a former Playboy model to fend off damage to his White House bid.
In July Michael Cohen initiated a breakfast meeting with Rev. Al Sharpton on the same day news broke that federal investigators have a recording Cohen made of a conversation with President Trump.
Rev. Al Sharpton: “It’s not just about Special Counsel Robert Mueller investigation of Michael Cohen; but it is also speaks to … you can’t have Michael Cohen saying; ‘Oh no, I did this for the president with Stormy Daniels if he didn’t know about it,’
“Will you bring the stories to the president that you … that he didn’t know about it either; and at this point … there is no way he didn’t know who was the ‘elevator operator at Trump Tower’.
“I’m talking about someone who knows everything. Michael Cohen was like therapy to president Trump; the kind of guy he would go to when things go awry. While the president would often be as belligerent as he humanely could be; Michael was the intermediary or the go-between for Trump and his associates. He was the pacifier.”
He added: “Cohen strongly signaled his willingness to cooperate with special counsel Robert Mueller and federal prosecutors in the Southern District of New York — even if that puts President Trump in jeopardy.
“My wife, my daughter and my son have my first loyalty and always will,” Cohen told me. “I put family and country first.”
