By Sam Bright///Anti-Brexit parties have agreed a wide-reaching election pact that could have a big impact on the general election.

Co-ordinated by the campaign group Unite to Remain, the Liberal Democrats, Greens and Plaid Cymru have decided to form an alliance in 60 seats, in an effort to stop a Boris .

Just one candidate will stand in each of these 60 seats, to give voters a clear, anti-Brexit option.

Talking about the announcement, Unite to Remain chair Heidi Allen said:

“With a single Remain candidate in each of these seats we can deliver a greater number of MPs into parliament. This is our opportunity to tip the balance of power away from the two largest parties and into a progressive Remain Alliance.

“The number of seats achieved, and the scope of what we’re seeking to achieve, is unprecedented in modern British political history.”

The Unite to Remain alliance is looking to build on the Brecon and Radnorshire by-election in August, where the Lib Dems overturned an 8,000 vote Tory majority to win the seat, after the Greens and Plaid Cymru stood aside.

The group is set to announce the full list of seats where an agreement has been reached at a press conference this morning. Scram News will be in attendance, so make sure to check back here and on our Twitter feed for further developments.
