When you look back at Jerry Springer, which was awful enough at the time, Kyle made Springer look classy and caring by comparison. Dreadful show that pollutes the minds of the demographic most likely to be watching ITV at that time of day.

The Jeremy Kyle Show has been taken off air and suspended indefinitely following the death of a guest who appeared on the show.

Dickinson’s Real Deal replaced it in the ITV morning schedule on Monday.

ITV confirmed in a statement it would not screen the episode in which the guest took part in filming

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured.

ITV viewers were surprised to see the popular chat show replaced by a rerun of Dickinson’s Real Deal on Monday morning, but it emerged that bosses had decided not to air the episode out of respect for the guest.

It’s like the early rounds of things like X-Factor where people who to my admittedly un-trained eye appear to have mental health issues are paraded to be humiliated … rather like the toffs having a day out in Bedlam to laugh at the “lunatics” Exploitation plain & simple.

The show is said to have ceased filming until a review of the episode can be carried out, so the programme will be off air indefinitely.

It shouldn’t have taken someone dying for The Jeremy Kyle Show to be taken off the air. For nearly 15 years it profited from exploiting addiction, poverty and human misery. It’s a damning indictment of how deeply sadistic our society is when it comes to the poor and vulnerable.

A spokesperson for ITV said: “Everyone at ITV and The Jeremy Kyle Show is shocked and saddened at the news of the death of a participant in the show a week after the recording of the episode they featured in and our thoughts are with their family and friends.

“ITV will not screen the episode in which they featured.

“Given the seriousness of this event, ITV has also decided to suspend both filming and broadcasting of The Jeremy Kyle Show with immediate effect in order to give it time to conduct a review of this episode of the show.”
