Hani Sidow explains her unusual penchant for ‘make-up’ and the whole idea of making oneself GLAM:

I always watched a lot of YouTube videos, in particular tutorials by Jayde Pierce and Huda Beauty, who were a huge part of my beauty journey. However , it was only during my first year of university that I got into applying make-up myself. My best friend mani and I would spend days on-end doing our make-up, just to take pictures, so I started my instagram account in 2015 and began sharing may make-up pictures. Marni had a of faith in me and walls helped me with getting content for my Instagram by sharing the latest trends with me and taking pictures for me.

All this just started happening. It just got serious and real when my sy]isters bought me my first professional camera and a lighting kit for my birthday; this is when I realised where the journey was taking me.

I only joined social media because I had to. Creating an Instagram account was part of my university degree – I studied advertising and public relations – but when I saw that my posts were getting attention I was like, ‘Oh, people actually like the make-up I’m wearing.’ It started to become fun. It was the words of encouragement, the ‘this is amazing, this is nice’ comments underneath my posts. They motivate you so much to keep going.
