The Met Police have charged a man in connection with a video that showed a cardboard model of Grenfell Tower being burnt on bonfire night last November – AIWA! NO!

Police charge man in connection with the burning of a Grenfell Tower effigy on bonfire night. The 46-year-old from South Norwood faces “two counts of sending/causing to be sent grossly offensive material via a public communications network”.

A video showing an effigy of Grenfell Tower being burnt in a bonfire has been called out by victims groups as “hateful and offensive.” Over 70 people died when the 24-storey block went up in flames in June 2017.

Five men were arrested “on suspicion of a public order offence” after a video surfaced of a Grenfell Tower effigy being burned in November 2018.
