AIWA! NO!//Journalist April Ryan has built her career reporting from the White House, where she has covered Presidents Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, Barack Obama and now Donald Trump for over 20 years.

The correspondent and Washington bureau chief for American Urban Radio Networks joined “Salon Talks” to set the record straight on her journalism career, which she says is under attack by the Trump administration.

“They would have you believe, meaning the White House staff, the president himself, as well as the press secretaries, that I’m a racist, that I’m not patriotic, that I’m rude, when indeed I’ve done the same thing for the last 21 years,” Ryan told Salon TV’s D. Watkins. “You see me in the briefing room among the other reporters raising my hand. Now, I’m not getting called on.” Ryan says Sanders has changed the White House’s historic relationship with the press.“They don’t want us knowing information. They don’t wanna be transparent. There used to be a friendly adversarial relationship with the White House. Now, it’s adversarial.” In the video above, watch Ryan open up about how Trump’s leadership is detrimental to the African-American community and why she isn’t giving up on her job, despite adversity and pushback.

Ryan is the author of the new book “Under Fire: Reporting from the Front Lines of the Trump White House,”.
