Man Und face their biggest Champions League test in years but can Ole Gunnar Solskjaer perform yet another miracle? – AIWA! NO!

Manchester United progressed to the quarter-finals of the Champions League after an epic comeback against PSG at Parc des Princes.

Their reward? The small matter of FC Barcelona, against the likes of Lionel Messi, Luis Suarez and Gerard Pique.

The odds are stacked against United for this tie, but as we know, anything can happen in knockout football.

Lionel Messi: How do Man Utd stop Barcelona star & what is it like to face him?

Ole Gunnar Solksjaer’s side welcome the Catalan giants to Old Trafford on Wednesday night, in what is a highly anticipated first leg clash.

So, will United shock Barcelona at home? And what will the final score be?

Manchester United vs Barcelona on FIFA 19:

To set up this simulation, we used kick-off mode but didn’t select a team to control; we then selected the teams and watched the match play out by itself, to give us a unique prediction.

The AI difficulty was set to world class, with the line-up updated with the latest injuries and suspensions.

Manchester United set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with the line-up as follows: De Gea; Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; Matic, Herrera, Pogba; Martial, Rashford, Lingard.

Barcelona also set up in a 4-3-3 formation, with their line-up as follows; Ter Stegen; Semedo, Pique, Lenglet, Alba; Busquets, Rakitic, Arthur; Coutinho, Suarez, Messi.

As you would expect, Barcelona dominated possession in the opening stages, calmly stroking the ball around, trying to find gaps in the United back line.

But despite the away side dominating with the ball, United looked relatively solid and were restricting the Catalan side to long range efforts, in what was becoming a strong defensive display.

In fact, the only chance of the entire first 45 minutes fell to Ivan Rakitic, but his effort from the edge of the area was easy enough to David De Gea to deal with.

United burst out of the traps in the second-half, as they looked to shock Ernesto Valverde’s side and catch them off guard – and they got the chance they had been looking for.

Jesse Lingard won the ball in midfield and drive forward into space and then sent a lovely through ball down the side of Clement Lenglet, looking for the run of Marcus Rashford, who was bearing down on goal.

However, the Frenchman got back at Rashford and the English forward screwed the ball wide under pressure, spurning a golden opportunity.

United would live to regret that moments later.

Lionel Messi found space on the edge of the area and sent a pass through the middle, trying to find Luis Suarez in the area. Luke Shaw read the pass well but his touch was too heavy and Suarez pounced on the loose ball, firing past De Gea to make it 1-0.

That goal seemed to kick United in to gear, pushing forward to find an equaliser and they could have had one in the 75th minute.

Rashford returned Lingard’s favour from earlier, playing him through on goal on Lenglet’s side, but when one-on-one with Ter Stegen, he skewed his effort wide for another chance wasted.

Diego Maradona blasts Lionel Messi after Argentina World Cup exit

Advertisements

DIEGO MARADONA has laid into Lionel Messi following Argentina’s exit from the World Cup.

Messi played an ineffectual role for most of the 4-3 defeat to Argentina on Saturday.

The Barcelona star played as a false nine with Cristian Pavon and Angel Di Maria either side of him.

It meant centre-forwards Gonzalo Higuain, Paulo Dybala and Sergio Aguero were left on the bench.

And Argentina icon Maradona has criticised Messi for his performance, likening him to Argentine comic character Patoruzú.

“I saw him very isolated, far away from the box,” Maradona said of Messi.

“I said that if he played as a No 9 and had to go looking for the ball, piece the game together, set the goals up and score them.

We are talking more about Patoruzú than about Lionel Messi

Diego Maradona

“It seemed we were talking more about Patoruzú than about Lionel Messi.”

Maradona went on to criticise manager Jorge Sampaoli for his starting XI.

“It was already predicted in the build-up. We knew after we left Moscow that Pavon, Messi and Di María were the ones who were going to attack the French defence, yet I don’t think they know a lot about the box, penalty spot or putting pressure on the centre-backs,” maradona said.

“Yes, they know how to create, but they’re not strikers.

“I think we went to the cinema more than the field because we came to see the chronicle of a death foretold.

“It’s true because Argentina inadvertently went out to attack France but made the mistake of leaving a lot of room for Mbappe.”

Diego Maradona delivered his World Cup verdict after the Argentina defeat

He was spotted swearing at Nigeria fans after a late winner in the group stage, while he was also checked out by medical staff during the game in St Petersburg.

It is not known if Maradona will continue to watch games at the World Cup in Russia now Argentina are out.

As for the future, Maradona wants a new breed of players to be trusted in Argentina’s next tournament – the Copa America next summer.

“We have to aim at the kids, go through the good things that the boys leave us with even though they won’t be there anymore,” he said.

“(We have to) try to inculcate the sacred fire that at times seems to be lacking in Argentina.”

If we don’t get the complete Brexit that we voted for the Conservatives can go jump in the Lake. Because they will not be getting near having any Government with them in charge for decades. I find it hard to believe that May and her minions have no idea of just how detested they are over this Brexit debacle. The last two years have been shameful for our Country thanks to Mrs May.

The sooner that BMW, Mercedes, Siemens, Allianz, AXA and other EU companies get the message that a no deal is going to cut out a huge amount of their business, the better. BMW’s largest global market is the UK. We’re the customers and if they don’t want our business, then they can push off somewhere else. Time to get tough

Though officials say Mrs May will propose a Norway-style option with her cabinet this week, which will keep the nation shackled to the EU rules on the sale of goods, grant EU citizens the right to travel to the UK to work and live and give a greater role to the European Court of Justice than Brexiteers are likely to tolerate.** How on earth can that be described as Brexit?

It can only be sensibly assumed that if the top person does not support the project then that person should be replaced. No need to be a rocket scientist to come to that conclusion. But Brexit is not just a project as it is a major change that requires dedicated people to deliver. This doing it out of a sense of duty does not inspire me at all, as let’s be realistic and at least admit that to have a captain that privately wants to scuttle the boat is quite ludicrous. Not only that, it is totally irresponsible of the government to allow such a situation to exist as Brexit is the future of the nation, and that believe it or not, is extremely important. To allow so many remainers to sit on the Brexit cabinet clearly indicates that the final objective (after endless delays) is to sabotage the whole thing.

I collapsed at home and an ambulance was called, because I had failed on 4 counts they decided to take me to A&E, they kept me there for about 5 hours and then decided to let me go. I had no money and was inadequately dressed, but had to make my way home unaided, I lived about 5 miles away, I still felt very poorly, but no lift was offered to me, even though I am an OAP. Not fit and uncaring, is the least you can call them.
