Extinction Rebellion – Leicester; advanced plans for ‘12 days of chaos’ before December general election



The Extinction Rebellion – Leicester’s Climate Change Activism Group and anti-consumerism members  have taken to the streets to protest irreparable ecological damage; consumerism and their damage to the environment.

The group’s aim is to create awareness and force positive action towards issues like climate change and consumerism which they say contributes to climate change, and that this should be a topical issue on the upcoming December 12 general election.The Extinction Rebellion (XR) 12 Days of Crisis campaign hopes to put pressure on political parties to make “climate and ecological emergency the defining issue of this general election”.

Say no to consumerism, say yes to our planet.

So far this year, policing XR protests has cost the Metropolitan Police £40 million, nearly three times the annual budget of its Violent Crime Taskforce. And police chiefs were dismayed when the High Court ruled their use of public order legislation to block last month’s Autumn Uprising were was unlawful.
